Is there a discount code for Hotel Chocolat?
Yes. Hotel Chocolat offers discount codes through two main channels: its own VIP.ME loyalty programme and third-party voucher aggregators. Both routes can reduce what you pay, but they work differently and deliver different savings levels.
How to sign up for VIP.ME
Hotel Chocolat’s VIP.ME is a free loyalty programme available to all UK customers. Signing up takes a few minutes and yields a 15% discount code for your first online or in-store purchase, according to multiple sources including MoneySavingExpert and VoucherCodes.
The sign-up process involves providing your email address and date of birth. The date of birth is used to trigger your birthday reward, which Hotel Chocolat’s own birthday rewards page confirms by inviting customers to share this information to receive a gift.
Third-party voucher codes
Groupon lists percentage-off codes such as 9% off Hotel Chocolat orders, alongside occasional fixed-value deals like £10 off specific products such as the Wreath Box. VoucherCodes also features 15% off codes for June 2026, though availability changes regularly.
What this means: third-party codes are convenient because they require no loyalty account, but they tend to offer smaller percentage savings than the VIP.ME welcome discount. CouponFollow tracks Hotel Chocolat promo codes and confirms that percentage-off codes such as 15% off orders over £30 periodically appear, showing that third-party savings are available but not guaranteed.
How to get 15% off Hotel Chocolat?
The most reliable route to a 15% discount is joining VIP.ME. MoneySavingExpert, VoucherCodes, Marie Claire, and Save the Student all report that new VIP.ME members receive a 15% off code usable on their next purchase.
Alternative pathways exist. Hotel Chocolat’s newsletter sign-up delivers a 10% welcome code, which is 5 percentage points less than VIP.ME. Students can access 15% off a first purchase via Student Beans, and NHS professionals can log in through Health Service Discounts for a 10% code, according to Marie Claire’s voucher hub.
The trade-off: VIP.ME requires creating an account and sharing your date of birth to unlock birthday rewards, while newsletter sign-up is quicker but yields a smaller discount.
How to get free Hotel Chocolat on your birthday?
Hotel Chocolat’s VIP.ME includes a birthday reward. MoneySavingExpert describes it as a “surprise gift”, typically a £5 voucher, which requires a minimum spend of £5.50. Living360 confirms the same terms, stating that VIP.Me members receive a £5 voucher to use on their birthday when spending £5.50 or more at Hotel Chocolat.
Save the Student frames the birthday perk differently, describing it as a free box of chocolates rather than a monetary voucher. This suggests the reward’s format may vary. The birthday voucher is valid for 30 days, but if you only sign up during your birthday month, MoneySavingExpert notes it may be valid for up to two weeks after your birthday.
How to claim your birthday reward
Save the Student explains that birthday freebies can be redeemed during the month of your birthday by visiting a Hotel Chocolat store and showing your VIP card or app. The reward can also be redeemed online with delivery from £3.95 for a single item.
Hotel Chocolat’s own promotions terms and conditions clarify that VIP.ME offers can be restricted to specific products or locations and are usually one use per customer.
Do Hotel Chocolat hotels ever have sales?
Hotel Chocolat’s hospitality venues include a resort property where accommodation discounts are available. Hotel Chocolat’s promotions terms and conditions confirm that VIP.ME discounts can sometimes apply to non-retail perks, including a 30% discount on accommodation at Hotel Chocolat’s own hospitality venues.
Current hotel promotion details: 30% off accommodation, plus a complimentary chocolate experience worth £238. This offer combines a percentage discount on your stay with a tangible included experience. Pricing bands for Hotel Chocolat
Hotel Chocolat operates across several price bands depending on what you’re purchasing:
- Entry-level chocolate: Single bars and small boxes typically start around £5–£10. A 15% VIP.ME discount saves roughly £0.75–£1.50 on these items.
- Mid-range gifts: Gift boxes and selection packs fall in the £15–£40 range. A 15% VIP.ME discount saves approximately £2.25–£6.00.
- Premium ranges: High-end selections and limited editions can exceed £60. Free delivery kicks in at this threshold, and the VIP.ME 15% discount can save £9 or more on a £60 order.
- Hotel accommodation: The 30% resort discount applies to room rates, with a complimentary chocolate experience included. The experience alone is valued at £238, making this a significant package deal for guests planning a stay.
Discount alternatives worth knowing
Beyond VIP.ME and third-party codes, Hotel Chocolat offers several additional discount pathways:
- Newsletter sign-up: 10% off your first purchase via email welcome code, per Marie Claire. Less than VIP.ME’s 15%, but quicker to obtain.
- Student Beans: 15% off first purchase for students, according to Marie Claire. This matches VIP.ME’s welcome rate and is stackable if you are both a student and a VIP.ME member.
- NHS discount: 10% off for NHS professionals via Health Service Discounts, per Marie Claire.
- Seasonal sales: Past Black Friday promotions have delivered 15% off orders over £35, with VIP club members receiving additional savings on products like the Velvetiser, according to MoneySavingExpert.
Our pick: the best discount route
For most shoppers, VIP.ME is the strongest starting point. The 15% welcome discount alone outperforms most third-party codes, and the ongoing 20% café drink benefit provides ongoing value for regular visitors. Add the birthday £5 voucher, and VIP.ME delivers more total savings over time than relying on Groupon or VoucherCodes codes alone.
Use third-party codes as a supplement rather than a primary strategy. Check VoucherCodes or Groupon before checkout for any limited-time codes that might apply to your purchase, but do not depend on them as your main discount source.
If you’re a student, combine Student Beans and VIP.ME to potentially stack discounts on your first order, though you should verify current stacking policies on hotelchocolat.com before attempting to combine codes.
